Synopsis
Julien Sorel, a handsome and intelligent young man.
Julien seeing no road to upper class, he is sensitive, helpless and ambitious, but his charming is the best tool to climb up.
Viewing himself as an unsentimental opportunist, he sets out to win the affections of Mme De Rênal, a mayoress. Then he gets the chance to go to Paris. There he seduces the aristocratic Mathilde. Mathilde also gives herself to Julien, with Mathilde’s help Julien reaches a very high position in the army. Coming with a letter of De Rênal, he falls.
