Mariya Pogrebnyak
Scenographer and puppet designer.
Studied painting and scenography at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Theater and Art College (1998-2003) and at the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theater, Cinema and Television University at the Department of Puppet Theater, where in 2008 she obtained a bachelor`s and a master`s degree in directing of puppet theater.
From 2003-2006 worked at the Kyiv Academic Municipal Puppet Theater as a puppet designer.
Since 2007 she has been working as the Chief Artist of the Kyiv Academic Drama Theater on Podil.
In 2009 started scientific activity, teaches at the Department of Puppet Theater of the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theater, Cinema and Television University, specialization “Scenography of Puppet Theater”.
Member of the National Union of Theater Artists of Ukraine and International Puppetry Association UNIMA Ukraine.
She produced more than 50 stage designs in actors` and puppet theatres of Kyiv and Ukraine with different directors. The artist`s portfolio includes such performances as: “One hundred thousands”, “Last summer in Chulimsk”, “Girl with a teddy bear, or under age…”, “1984”, “Shakuntala”, “Lunasa”, “Persona”, “Attempt to love”, “Moskalytsia”, “Letter to God”, “Athenian evenings”, “A dowry woman”, “Test” and others.
Laureate of the Kyiv Pectoral award for Best scenography for performances “Legend of Faust” (in Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater, director A. Pryhodko, 2008) and “The lower depths” (in Kyiv Academic Drama Theater on Podil, director V. Malakhov, 2012).
Took part in various Ukrainian exhibitions of scenography and All-Ukrainian exhibition of stage designers of the puppet theater.
