Ms. Tamar Janashia, who has a proven record of more than 18 years of working in the field of culture and carrying out of different cultural activities currently serves as a project manager of the Tbilisi Architecture Biennial.
Graduate of the MBA studies at the University of Maine, Orono (2005-2007, Edmund Muskie Fellowship Program funded by the US State Department) she also holds BA from the Tbilisi State University in the field of classical philology (old Greek and Latin, class of 1996).
Ms. Tamar Janashia is founder and CEO of the non for-profit organization Culture and Management Lab (CML) that is active in the realm of arts, cultural exchange and works on the issues of cultural policy and strategic development of creative industries in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. In 2018 -2019 she was Executive Director of the SOU Festival (festival of contemporary culture) and project coordinator in charge of the training of cultural managers from the Central Asian countries (2018-2019, invited by the Goethe Institute Tashkent, Uzbekistan). In 2012-2017 she worked as a General Administrator of the Regional Art and Culture Program for the South Caucasus for the Swiss Cooperation Office. In parallel she led a project about development of cultural policy and strategy of management principles for preservation and maintenance of the intangible cultural heritage and elaboration of relevant legislation. In 2010-2018 Ms. Janashia worked as a CEO of an organization Business Initiative for Reforms in Georgia (BIRG), which is the partner institute of the World Economic Forum and is responsible for administering, collecting and submitting data for the yearly Global Competitiveness Report.
As a free-lance business consultant she provides her services to various local and international organizations, academic institutions and private companies in the fields of general management, project management and development. Prior to becoming CEO of BIRG and CML Tamar Janashia was employed at the Corporate Lending Department of the TBC Bank in a position of the loan officer, worked as a development consultant at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, was chief editor and general manager of the science education magazine Junior Georgia, deputy director of the library at the Ilia State University (responsible for launch of MA program of the Library and Information Science).
