Monika Wanyura-Kurosad
Printmaker, stage designer, film set decorator. Graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Department of Graphic Arts in Katowice and Department of Painting in Krakow. Associate Professor at The Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.
Works with drawing, digital graphic, installation. Arranges drawings into modular installations, combines drawing with metal surfaces. Deals with painting using installations of paper. Interested in theme of passing time, light and space. Abstraction is a favourite language of her artistic expression.
Prepared over a dozen solo exhibitions and participated in over 120 exhibitions in Belgium, Canada, Hungary, Japan, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Spain. Works in collection of Osten Museum of Drawing, North Macedonia; Art Museum Cluj–Napoca, Romania; Brita Prinz ARTE, Spain; Centre d’artistes Voix Visuelle, Canada; Collection of Association of Fine Artists of Serbia, National Museum in Krakow, Silesian Museum in Katowice, Museum of Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and private collections.

Chłopcy [Boys]

The story about life of elderly people staying in a nursing house. They still are returning to bright moments from the past. Kalmita, the protagonist, leaves the nursing house with his wife. Finally he escapes from own home to the nursing house. But his world he left behind is no longer here. The scenography creates an image of a friendly, bright space, filled by old furniture, paintings, model of the glider under the ceiling. Then the room transforms into a common room, the mood and charm disappear. TV theatre about farewell to the past, old love and life.
Stulecie Winnych [Centenary of the Winny]

The story tells about the Winny family life, which is shown on the background of great historical events of the 20th century. Season II covered the years 1939 – 1952 and Season III the years 1956 – 1976. These were the years of World War II, the period of stalinism in Poland, the years of strikes in factories and the Gdańsk shipyard, and student strikes in 1968. Complicated Polish history were related to the fate of subsequent generations of the Winny family. The women in this group were able to predict the future. The interior decoration in the series included over 220 objects in one series. Apartments, multi-family houses, architectural ateliers, hospitals during the war, as well as offices, restaurants, theatres, prisons, torture chambers and many others. Faithfulness to historical realities and conducting the narrative over the years, in accordance with changes in material culture and era was a main purpose. The beauty of film spaces was also an important goal of our work.
Lokatorka II [Tenant II]

A series about the difficult fate of tenants thrown out of their apartments by greedy developers. The action of the second season takes place in Silesia, in the picturesque locations of factories, post-industrial buildings, family estates, palaces and restaurants. The action was set in 2012. There were over 80 objects to be prepared: Architectural Atelier, Bartek’s Apartment, Kazimierz’s Apartment, Milka’s Apartment, Colonel Wesołek’s Office, Sunny Oasis Office, Dirty Office, Police Station, Prison and many others.
