Ailun Guo
Set and stage designer at the Beijing Children’s Art Theatre and a member of the Beijing Drama Association.
She completed her undergraduate studies in Stage Design at the Central Academy of Drama and her master’s degree in Directing and Stage Design at the same institution.
Her installation work, Treatment, was invited to the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in 2019. Her stage design for the play Judgment was invited to the 4th China Stage Design Exhibition in 2021. Since 2018, she has embarked on a career in artistic design, creating works in various forms including musicals, dramas, children‘s plays, galas, cultural celebrations, and exhibitions. Her visual creations often stem from a director’s perspective, leading performances and breaking conventional presentation forms. Her work not only pursues a personal aesthetic style but also emphasizes conceptual design methods and interpretative freedom, bringing unique insights and innovative spirit to stage arts.
Her major works include musicals such as City of Dreams, My Yulin Song, Golden Wind and Jade Dew, Peach Blossoms Bloom, and Seussical, dramas like The Detective, Judgment, In the BambooGrove, Butterflies are Free, and Life, and holographic drama 7, Dou E’s Tragedy; and Tales of Old South City. She has also worked on dance dramas such as Yellow Butterfly, and children’s plays including Where is Chang’an, Black Eyes on the Plateau, The Museum‘s Fantastic Journey. Kitty Cat Goes on the Roof, Grandpa Rat Overslept, the Oracle School, Forever and Ever Love You, Bing Bing Bear’s Big Adventure, and Frozen: Elsa’s Magic.
