The role of theatre in the social adaptation of children and adolescents in the context of Russian military aggression against Ukraine
The research centres on examining how Ukrainian theatre establishes communication channels with young audiences during periods of conflict, particularly focusing on themes related to war. The study aims to address the following questions: Does contemporary Ukrainian theatre recognise the importance of addressing such topics, especially for younger audiences? What role does theatre play in articulating and shaping narratives surrounding war? Additionally, it considers the involvement of Ukrainian theatres in art therapy projects aimed at children and adolescents, utilising theatrical practices as a means of coping with the stresses induced by war. In analysing the engagement of Ukrainian theatres with young audiences from this perspective, two distinct areas have been identified, each illustrated with examples.
