Abstract title: A CONSIDERATION OF CONTEMPORARY UKRAINIAN SCENOGRAPHY AND AREAS OF SCENOGRAPHIC RESEARCH
The most prominent contemporary trends in the scenography of Ukraine Daniil Lider formed a “school” of scenography, which actually became a full-fledged first national school of scenography. He never emphasized the term “school”, and was even opposed to such a definition, considering any school a restrictive dogmatic process. Today his students make up the golden stock of Ukrainian scenography and include: Scenographers-architects:Volodymyr Karashevskyi, the main artist of the Kyiv National Academic Young Theater; Serhiy Masloboishchykov, scenographer and director who is realized on the leading stages of Ukraine; Olena Drobna, the main artist of the Lesia Ukrainka National Theater. Scenographers-designers: Ihor Nesmiianov, a scenographer who performs on the leading stages of Ukraine; Oleh Lunov until recently, the main artist of the Kyiv Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank of the Dnieper. Scenographers-painters: Andrii Aleksandrovych-Dochevskyi – chief artist of the I. Franko National Theater; Mariia Levytska, the main artist of the Taras Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine. Costume playwrights: Nataliia Rudiuk, an artist of costumes at the I. Franko National Theater; Liudmyla Nahorna, an artist of costumes of opera performances Outside of the Lider’s School, today in Ukraine there is also a powerful cohort of scenographers of different generations and directions, including: Scenographers-ethnographers: Oleksandr Bilozub, the main artist of the National Operetta, who is also successfully realized in Hungary; Bohdan Polishchuk an artist at the Malyi Theater in Kyiv. Scenographers-colorists: Oleksandr Druhanov an artist of the I. Franko National Theater; Petro Bohomazov – artist of the I. Franko National Theater; Mariia Pohrebnia, the main artist of the Theater in Podil Costume designers-fantasts: Such was the late Olena Bohatyrova, who was able to show the game world of theatrical costume; also Kateryna Korniichuk – an artist of costumes of the Theater in Lypky Current areas of scenographic research of Ukraine A few words about the initiative of modern research of scenography in Ukraine. Our public organization initiated cooperation with the Museum of Theater and theaters, and we set a goal to make a Virtual Museum of Ukrainian Scenography (https://www.uascenography.com/). The museum is being filled today. It has 5 sections: Beginning (birth of Ukrainian scenography, avant-garde), Renaissance (revival of Ukrainian scenography in 1960-1980, the prime of “effective” scenography), Lider’s “School” (modern scenographers, who are actively realized) New spaces and explorations of the young (young representatives of the profession). Each of these sections represents a number of names, and the personal page shows the work of the scenographer. It is important for us that the platform is launched and is actively filled with works, as well as that the site is bilingual – Ukrainian and English Such a platform will allow us to present the heritage of Ukrainian scenography to the world.
